New to Dynex Fast Recovery Diode 1800V range of devices

FRD designed for the latest drive designs

Article promoting new FRD devices designed for low power lossNew to Dynex Fast Recovery Diode (FRD) 1800V range of devices designed for low power loss, the DFM400PXM18-A000 & DFM300PXM18-A000 modules. Their fast switching times and low reverse recovery losses allow high frequency operation, making the devices suitable for the latest drive designs employing PWM (pulse width modulation) and high frequency switching.

The module incorporates an electrically isolated base plate and low inductance construction enabling circuit designers to optimise circuit layouts and utilise grounded heat sinks for safety. They are suitable for a variety of high voltage applications in motor drives and power conversions such as chopper diodes, boost and buck converters, free-wheel circuits and multi-level inverters.

FRD Features

  • Low reverse recovery charge
  • High switching speed
  • Low forward volt drop
  • Isolated AlSiC base with AlN substrates
  • Lead-free construction

The new FRD modules compliment our existing range of devices from 1.2kV to 6.5kV at 250A to 1200A which are designed to work as input rectifiers for the existing Dynex range of IGBT modules.

The high-voltage FRD modules have been designed for use in rail traction, industrial motor drives, induction heating and power generation.  Single, double and triple diode configurations are available with current ratings up to 3600A.
