We are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to work within the Procurement department. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for the management of the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, products and services to support the business activities. You will source suitable suppliers, negotiate prices, agree terms and conditions and monitor their performance, relentlessly seeking best value. You will manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders with suppliers in order to ensure that the needs of the business are fulfilled and develop and deliver commercially robust project procurement plans.

We are seeking to appoint a Procurement Manager to oversee all procurement activities for the Company. The Role

You will manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders with suppliers in order to ensure that the needs of the business are fulfilled and develop and deliver commercially robust project procurement plans.

About you

As the Procurement Manager you will be CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualified (or working towards) and you will have worked in a similar role within a busy manufacturing environment and have a proven track record of delivering results. You will have a strong background of reducing cost whilst at the same time improving supplier performance and improving supply chain processes. As a Procurement Manager you will need to be a good communicator and must be able to challenge and negotiate with suppliers and read and interpret engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

The role will offer considerable variety with some of the day to day responsibilities including:

  • Select, evaluate and approve new suppliers to meet current and future demands
  • Manage the introduction of new parts and products into the Supply Chain to meet cost, quality and project schedule requirements
  • Supplier management including performance reviews covering quality, cost and delivery and taking appropriate action where improvements are required
  • Resolve supplier quality issues quickly and effectively
  • Implement and maintain contractual agreements, non-disclosure agreements and statements of work protecting Company interests
  • Apply engineering, manufacturing and quality expertise to reduce cost and cycle time to drive efficiencies
  • Maintenance and production of procurement information and monthly reporting
  • Management of the purchasing team
  • Supporting the teams cost and risk reduction initiatives
  • Liaising with the production planning team and other key stake holders to ensure  production and business needs are fulfilled
  • Ensuring accurate and up to date procurement data in the ERP system
  • Compliance to EU procurement legislation

 

Core Skills

  • Minimum 3 years procurement management experience
  • Ideally CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualified (or working towards)
  • Experience of having worked in procurement within the manufacturing/engineering sector
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and systems
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of ERP systems and processes
  • Advanced user of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent negotiator and problem solver
  • Ideally a qualification in electrical/electronic engineering or mechanical / manufacturing engineering
  • Experience of managing relationships across cultural and geographical boundaries
  • Experience of negotiating legal agreements including terms and conditions and NDA’s
  • Strong, assertive leader who can build trust and confidence quicly
  • Able to cope with pressure and work in a fast paced environment
