We are currently recruiting for a Principal Reliability and Qualification Engineer to work within our R&D Centre: Semiconductors department. The Principal Reliability and Qualification Engineer will manage a small engineering team that is responsible for the qualification of new IGBT parts and process within the company. The responsibilities will include managing the team, resources and liaising with production, facilities and QA to align with set targets. In addition the successful applicant will identify and develop methods and materials to assist in the improvement of IGBT module reliability.

Other:                           Hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday -Thursday and 8.30am -4.30pm on a Friday (one hour unpaid lunch).

The Role

About you

As the Principal Reliability and Qualification Engineer you will have excellent time management skills and the ability to present data in a meaningful way that gains understanding by a diverse audience. The role will require a ‘hands on’ approach and hence you would be expected to be familiar with all tests and testers to complete any qualification test.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduling of qualification and testing of parts, including sampling
  • Maximising uptime and throughput of all testers
  • Interpretation of outcomes and failure analysis of submitted parts where required
  • Interpretation and application of customer requested qualification testing
  • Ability to perform all standard qualification tests including pre and post characterisation
  • Ensure failure analysis results are recognised and acted upon by Design and Production
  • Working with and contributing towards projects that may involve teams of specialists and non-specialists both within the R&D Centre and manufacturing groups
  • Presenting complex information to colleagues in and outside of the team ensuring that it is appropriate in order to gain the understanding of both technical and non-technical staff
  • Create and establish effective working relationships with key personnel ensuring best practice is shared across the group
  • Interact effectively with external bodies in the development and promotion of Dynex products; research institutions, suppliers and customers
  • Research, identification and development of methods and materials to improve the reliability of Dynex IGBT modules
  • Promotion of better understanding of reliability testing and the causes of failures within IGBT modules

 

Core Skills

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant science and or engineering/mechanical engineering subject
  • HNC or equivalent in engineering/mechanical engineering or a physical science plus 2 years’ experience in an appropriate engineering environment
  • Industrial experience in test
  • Effective communicator with specialist and non-specialist colleagues
  • Demonstratable knowledge of solving engineering problems and to make appropriate recommendations for improvement
