We are currently seeking to appoint a highly skilled Buyer to work within our Procurement department. The Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of materials and services to support the business activities. You will source suitable suppliers, negotiate prices, agree terms and conditions and monitor their performance. You will manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders with suppliers in order to ensure that the needs of the business are fulfilled.

We are seeking to appoint a Buyer to support the Company procurement activities to provide a cost effective and value added service.

The Role

The Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of materials and services to support the business activities. You will source suitable suppliers, negotiate prices, agree terms and conditions and monitor their performance. You will manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders with suppliers in order to ensure that the needs of the business are fulfilled.

About you

As the Buyer you will ideally be Level 4 MCIPS qualified (or working towards) and you will have worked in a similar role within manufacturing and have a proven track record of delivering results. You will have a strong background of reducing cost whilst at the same time improving supplier performance and improving supply chain processes. As a Buyer you will need to be a good communicator and must be able to challenge and negotiate with suppliers and read and interpret engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

The role will offer considerable variety with some of the day to day responsibilities including:

  • Placing purchase orders within the ERP system
  • Identifying and sourcing new parts as required by production and other key stake holders
  • Processing purchase requisitions for non-stock parts including obtaining quotes and price negotiation
  • Managing the sub-contract process and Dynex subcontractor’s
  • Order book management including expediting outstanding orders with suppliers
  • Supplier management including performance reviews covering quality, cost and delivery and taking appropriate action where improvements are required
  • Supporting the teams cost and risk reduction initiatives
  • Liaising with the production planning team and other key stake holders to ensure  production and business needs are fulfilled
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date procurement data in the ERP system
  • Investigate invoice discrepancies and ensure that these are resolved with suppliers and finance in a timely manner
  • Agree Terms & Conditions and non-disclosure agreements with suppliers

 

Core Skills

  • Minimum 3 years procurement experience with a  track record of purchasing good and services
  • Ideally Level 4 MCIPS qualified (or working towards) and able to demonstrate experience within a similar role
  • Experience of having worked in procurement within the manufacturing/engineering sector
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and systems is desirable
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of ERP systems and processes
  • Advanced user of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Confident, pro-active attitude with the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Experience of negotiating legal agreements including terms and conditions and NDA’s
  • Team player
  • Able to cope with pressure and work in a fast paced environment
