Dynex's position on RoHS
The European Union's directive
2002/95/EC on the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive" (RoHS)
was published on 13th February 2003. It controls the use of specified
hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment sold in
Europe from 1st July 2006. The materials specified are lead, mercury,
cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain flame retardants use in
plastics: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl
ethers (PBDE).
Dynex Semiconductor Ltd (Dynex), as a producer of
high power semiconductor components, is committed to complying with the
RoHS directive as a minimum standard within its ISO 14001 environmental
policy, and to fully support its customers in their compliance.
Dynex confirms those all-discrete bipolar products, IGBT modules, and SAW
filters are fully compliant with the RoHS directive.
Dynex do not intend to make any changes to part numbers or package
labelling as a result of RoHS. This decision results from the fact that
the vast majority of products have not required modification because
they do not contain any of the restricted substances. The few products
that have required change have only been altered internally and there is
no difference in product performance or characteristics. With no
external solder on any parts there are also no issues with customer’s
soldering methods.
It is also the case that the majority of
applications for Dynex products are outside the scope of the RoHS
directive. However if any customer has concerns regarding any product or
would like further information on Dynex and RoHS then please contact the
company.
